Eastbrooke Hub & GP Townsville

The Eastbrooke Health Hub provides the community with a diverse range of medical, health and wellness services. At the health hub you’ll find doctors and specialists providing a holistic range of medical and wellness services right in the centre of Thuringowa, working together to improve the lives of the Townsville community, from Aitkenvale to Cranbrook and Kirwan.

Our Centre’s medical team is passionate about community health care

Our Medical Centre consists of a team of registered nursing staff and doctors, including many General Practitioners (GPs) who have a wide spectrum of special interests and a dedication to the values of patient centred care.

The centre also provides specialised medical clinics including a Women’s Clinic, Travel Clinic and Diabetes Clinic. Also available are Work, Health and Safety services including pre-employment medical checks, work cover and return to work programs. Dr Erik Lai offers vein services including management of spider veins and varicose veins using ultrasound guided injections for larger veins and microsclerotherapy for spider veins.

Allied Health services are also available including NDIS Therapy and Respite, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Psychology services and a Hand, Wrist and Arm clinic.

Please note that our Eastbrooke Family Clinic Townsville is a mixed billing centre, please refer to the Patient Information Sheet to view our fee structure.

Pensioners, Concession Care Card holders and children under 16 may be bulk billed at the discretion of the doctor. Please ask your Doctor at the beginning of your consultation.

Level C. Immunisations for children will be BULK BILLED in accordance with the current Australian Immunisation Schedule.

Both visiting and local Veterans Affairs cardholders from Aitkenvale, Cranbrook, Kirwan and Thuringowa, will not be charged for seeing one of our doctors as they are bulk billed, so please present your card on arrival for your visit.

Dr Manjit Singh

Dr Manjit Singh graduated from Patiala Medical School in India and obtained a Physician’s post-graduate degree in Cardiology from the Pune University in India. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and enjoys teaching – he is a GP examiner and GP Registrar Supervisor.

Dr Loraine Ellis

Dr Loraine Ellis obtained her post graduate MBBS at the University of Queensland. She undertook specialist qualifications in general practice and gained Fellowship in 2007, undertaking her internship and residency at The Townsville Hospital. Dr Ellis also has Science degree majoring in Biochemistry, was an enrolled and registered nurse, and gained her midwifery registration at Cairns Base Hospital and Child Health in Brisbane. She has worked rurally in Mareeba and Ireland.

Dr Loraine Ellis

Dr M. Muniruzzaman (Dr Zaman)

Dr Mohammed Muniruzzaman (Dr Zaman) has joined Eastbrooke Family Clinic Townsville.

He graduated in 1992 from Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh. After that he obtained a Masters of Family Medicine (M.FAM.MED) in 2002 from The University of The Free State, South Africa. In 2008 he became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Muniruzzaman obtained a qualification from the University of Queensland to do Primary Skin Cancer Surgery. He does skin checks, skin cancer procedures and all other minor surgery.

He has consistently provided a caring and understanding approach to all aspects of medicine and general practice to all ages and gender.

Dr M. Muniruzzaman (Dr Zaman)

Dr Erik Lai

Dr Erik Lai has a post graduate certificate from the Australian Skin Cancer Society. He has undergone further training to manage all types of complicated skin cancers from diagnosis, treatment and follow up. He can use digital photography as well as dermoscopy to follow up and manage lesions that do not need immediate excisions. This allows for the differentiation of benign and malignant lesions without the need for unnecessary biopsies.
He has also completed extra training through the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Medicine that allows him to offer botulinum toxin injections to manage fine lines and wrinkles. He can offer light based skin therapies for skin rejuvenation, treating fine lines, pigmentation and small vessels in the skin that develop with time. Light based therapy can also be used in the management of active acne.
Dr Erik Lai is a member of the College of Phlebology and can manage varicose veins and spider veins non-surgically, by injection therapy. There is no surgery, no hospital admission and no down time with this procedure. He can use ultrasound guided injections for larger veins and microsclerotherapy for spider veins.
