On Thursday 17 September the Eastbrooke Lifestyle Gym was featured in the Geelong Weekly Review – The news article reads as below:
A new gym with $10,000 in additional funding has opened in Belmont after the St Laurence Health and Wellbeing Centre (HAWC) gym closed this year. HAWC members have been given a new home above Belmont’s Eastbrooke Family Clinic, which has taken over management and staff from the Wellbeing Centre.
The new Eastbrooke Lifestyle Gym means that the service is still very much intact for the local community. Eastbrooke’s practice manager, Cynthia Matthews, says the Western Victoria Primary Health Network funding allowed for infrastructure changes, which doubled the size of the gym.
“The service will continue to cater for the over-55s, people with acquired brain injuries, people who are supported by the NDIA and the Strive to Thrive program,” she days. “We currently have 165 people registered with us and it’s growing.”
The funding was marked by an official launch on August 14. Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson and the chief executive officer of the Western Victoria Primary Health Network, Jason Trethowan, were at the launch.
