Dr John McCormick has more than 32 years of medical experience. Qualified in Northern Ireland and trained as a GP in Edinburgh, he acquired expansive hospital experience in Ireland, Scotland, England & New Zealand. During this time he acquired valuable experience in the following:  Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Cardiology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Family Planning, Gerontology, General Medicine & General Surgery.

Dr McCormick came to Australia 15 Years ago and initially worked as a “Bush” GP in Central Queensland for almost 4 years before moving to Mackay, where he worked as a Senior Medical Officer in the Emergency Dept at Mackay Base Hospital for 3 years.  He then joined the Australian Regular Army as a Medical Officer in Townsville and was deployed overseas as part of this service. Dr McCprmick settled Back into Sarina Hospital as a Senior Medical Officer before working for another 4 years as a regular GP in Mackay. The past 2 years have been spent acquiring additional experience working as a Rural & Remote Practitioner – providing general practice care and looking after small rural hospitals, including emergency medicine. This included 13 locations in Queensland, 8 in South Australia and the RFDS in Broken Hill.
