Dr James Magarey of the Eastbrooke Family Clinic Belmont has been made a Lifetime Fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
The induction presentation was made at the RACGP Victoria Faculty Fellowship and Awards Ceremony on Sunday 27 November 2011.
Dr James Magarey comes from a long line of doctors, with the profession being somewhat of a family tradition. Family records indicate that Dr Magarey is the 17th “Dr Magarey” and his son, Matthew, is the 19th in the family. Dr Magarey’s father, Dr James “Rupert” Magarey (also known as Sir Rupert Magarey) was made an Honorary Fellow of the College, being inducted in 1978. Dr Rupert Magarey also served as the Federal President of the AMA.
It is very satisfying to see our colleague honoured in such a way. Dr James Magarey is an excellent ambassador of general practice and has devoted his lifetime to serving the health needs of his community.
Congratulations from all at Eastbrooke!
