Dr Kassey is a country girl who grew up in rural Queensland before completing her medical degree and training in city and regional hospitals. She also has a background in research, having presented and published multiple research papers nationally and internationally, lectured medical students and junior doctors for Gold Coast University Hospital and Bond University and has been a medical student clinical examiner for James Cook University.
